“Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. It is fitting that at this solemn moment we take the pledge of dedication to the service of India and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity "
[extract from nehru's speech]
When I turn back the time and look in to our past, I still wonder have we really awaken to life and freedom, did we ever happen to listen to the soul of the nation or have we let our country really emerge from her submission? Can we in a true sense proudly say that we are a free country ? Well, there may be various flavors of answers to all these questions.
These concerns do cross my mind when I see little children selling small articles on traffic signals for their livelihood, when every morning I just flash through the newspaper and read about dowry deaths, failure of disaster managements, maladministration’s, scams, blame game played by our leaders and witness them becoming power mongrels .

Though we have an immensely impressive stats in IT, science and technology why are we still addressed as developing nation. why do we stand the least in HDI ranking, what is happening to the crore of rupees spent on developmental purpose in agriculture, education to quote a few, is the schemes setup by government for poor and BPL individuals, reaching its destination?
where are our resources draining out? With a population more than a billion why we fail to score decent number of medals in Olympics.
There are so many questions for which we may have the answers too, probably what lacks is a will to rectify, a voice to rise against odds, a thought to question, and a willingness to take an initiative.

When we find a little time from our busy life we just discuss about this, shrug our shoulders casually and say “It is India Boss!!! And this is the way it runs here” .But how many of us want to actually take the responsibility of correcting them. It’s not that we are ignorant about the happenings around us; in fact we have all the resources and best brains in the world. Then what is holding us back.
We tend to ignore that even small efforts from each and every individual will add a beautiful color in the larger picture of success. With every drop of water making an ocean, we with every little efforts put forward towards nation building will definitely reap a better India. Let’s sit and analyze by ourselves in what way we can contribute towards our country. With this India will just not be known for her rich cultural heritage but also she will stand out in all spheres making her the best nation in the whole world.
Remember-“I as an individual do make a difference”.
cheers.
